Job Summary:

Urban Tails AT-Home Veterinary Care is seeking full-time or part-time doctors to join our team.

We are open 8:00 am-5:00 pm during the weekdays. Your work schedule will consist of 4 days during the weekdays. No weekends, nights, or holidays. Hours are from 8 am to 5 pm. No busy crowded lobby, everything is performed in our client's homes.

Our work day consists of seeing dogs and cats for wellness exams, vaccines, occasional urgent care, internal medicine, quality of life management, in-home euthanasia, and palliative care.

You will always have a technician available and occasionally have 2 techs as needed, depending on the procedure. We have an office/call center that is responsible for scheduling our appointments, confirming arrival time, and taking payments if needed. It's like a dispatch center that ensures the doctor and technician on duty have all the support they need.

The successful candidate will be expected to be self-motivated and work toward being the best at what they do while positively impacting the team. We will encourage personal development and growth that benefits the candidate and our practice. We are able to provide the most comprehensive mobile veterinary services as a general day practice would. There are no on-call hours or weekends

We bring compassionate, high-quality veterinary care directly into the homes of dogs and cats, providing a low-stress, personalized experience for both pets and their people. We're looking for a caring, detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our team and help us deliver exceptional in-home care.

Job Summary
As a Veterinary Assistant with Urban Tails, you will provide support to our veterinarian and veterinary technician during mobile house-call appointments, helping deliver exceptional care to pets and their families in the comfort of their homes. You will play an important role in patient care, animal handling, client communication, and ensuring visits run smoothly and efficiently. In addition, you will assist our surgical team during procedures performed at our surgical center, helping maintain a safe, organized, and high-quality surgical environment. This unique role combines clinical support, client interaction, and surgical assistance across both mobile and surgical care settings.

Key Responsibilities

Assist during exams and procedures by preparing instruments, equipment, and treatment areas in client homes.
Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments.
Administer medications under veterinary supervision and ensure accurate documentation.
Work closely under the supervision of the surgical technician to assist with anesthetic procedures, surgical prep, and post-operative care.
Maintain accurate medical records and support client communication.
Educate pet owners on routine care, medications, and post-treatment instructions.
Help maintain cleanliness and sterility of equipment and mobile clinic tools using aseptic techniques.
Support with loading/unloading equipment and driving or navigating between appointments as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

Prior experience in a veterinary assistant role (required).
Skilled in handling and restraining dogs and cats.
Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and basic pharmacology.
Familiarity with aseptic technique and infection control protocols.
Comfortable assisting with surgical procedures and anesthesia under supervision.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable working independently and on the road.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.

Education:

High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

Veterinary assistant: 1 year (Required)
